Tamarin Bay - Salt Pans - Coffe Factory at Case Noyale - Chamarel - 7-coloured earth - Waterfall (90m) - Black River Gorges - Plaine Champagne - Trou aux Cerfs - Eureka
The scenic drive along the west coast via Tamarin Bay and the saltpans leads into the southwest corner of Mauritius. ![]() At the old traditional “Chamarel” coffee factory situated at Case Noyale you will be able to taste the Mauritian coffee that has been roasted and packed on the spot. Along the narrow road winding its way up the mountains, the views over this part of the island and the vast Indian Ocean below are simply overwhelming. The 90m high Chamarel waterfall and the 7-coloured earth are two authentic sites you should not miss. A memorable gourmet lunch will be served in the Domaine Saint Denis, a private estate with outstanding views over the south and south-west. Black River Peak (828 m) is the highest summit of the island and the gorges of Black River are the last home to most of the island’s endemic species of flora and fauna. The road passes through the forests of Plaine Champagne towards Curepipe. From the rim of the volcanic crater Trou aux Cerfs, the panoramic view extends over nearly the whole island. The tour ends at Eureka one of the oldest colonial mansions remaining on the island. You will return to your hotel after "High Tea" on the veranda. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
